With some late calves. I'm sandwiched on the west and the north by about 90,000 acres that supports a bison herd of 5000 animals. Some of the county roads run straight across this spread and it is common to see "road-blocks" made up of buffalo. The bulls can easily go to 2000 pounds. They are in no way domesticated.

Quite a few people around here have buffalo herds, but not in those numbers. I'm quite fond of the meat myself.
I saw on the news where some rancher got mad and shot a bunch of buffalo. Seems like there's room enough for everybody out there from your pictures.
Hermit, I heard about that. Owners wouldn't keep them confined and the rancher got tired of them breaking down fences and coming into his place. It seems like a waste but there are some people that don't understand anything but "forthright action."
I guess. Just seems a shame.
