Windpump at dusk

I've photographed this old windpump so often, under so many different conditions, that I feel it's almost a member of the family. It's a natural subject since it sits right out in front of the house.

I love these old Aermotors and I hate to see the new trend of replacing them with solar-powered pumps. Progress, I guess. That's what they call it anyway.

This was taken just before our present snowfall, right as dusk was lengthening the shadows and giving that last burst of pure, concentrated light.

great photo. I love the old Aermotors too. I just finished installing a 701, 10 footer on a thirty foot tower in front of my barn. I have no need for a well but did have a need for a windmill.

That is a spectacular photo. Good to see there are some places left in this country where Nature still has the upper hand, and men haven't covered the earth with golf courses and subdivisions (a mini-rant for the weekend).

I concur wholeheartedly with what Carol said!

I never get tired of seeing your pictures of the old wind pump. May I borrow this one for my desktop? Just seeing it makes me want to take a deep breath and relax.

Thanks, folks, for the kind words.

MM, of course you may borrow it.

Hey Rio, I was wondering, where are the high plains? Seems like a helluva place but I haven't got the slightest idea of where it is.

Here's a rundown on the High Plains.
