Soapweed. (
Yucca glauca) Sometimes called just "yucca." The Plains Indians made a kind of soap out of the roots. Cows find parts of it tasty, but most ranchers kill it when it gets too numerous. When it blooms, it is a pretty plant. Some are in full bloom south of here, but right around my place they are still working on it.

I have one in my front yard, but it hasn't flowered yet.
I have two seedlings that I got in Kansas, and they have done very well for me in the mountains of Southern California. No flowers yet, though. They're still too young.
If I can find some really nice examples, I'll post 'em. Shouldn't be long now.
