I went to a really fine round-up and branding just the other day. This one always draws some great riders and ropers. We filled the branding corral twice, starting at a little after sun-up and finishing by eleven-thirty. Then it was back to HQ and an excellent meal and some good fellowship, characterized by tall tales and friendly lies. If there is a "social season" out here it would have to be the round-ups and brandings and the attendant camaraderie. It's sad to think they are part of a vanishing America. But I plan to enjoy it while it's here!

Very fine photos as usual. Your a most fortunate man. I would love to be out there....
Nice to see horses working.
That brings back some memories. When I first got out of high school I got a job on a ranch to earn money for college.
Why do you not have a horse or two yourself? Do you not like them? I know they are some trouble but for myself, they would be worth it.
And along those lines, what does a decent horse go for up there?
KS, I got my first horse when I was four. But lately I have found that my UTV is a more congenial mount. I'm too old to be falling off of tall quadrupeds and breaking stuff I might need! And with very, very few exceptions the UTV will go anywhere a horse can go and get there faster to boot.
